Happy New Year! I started out my New Year sitting in the chair of my hygienist,
Pamela. She has been my hygienist for six years and does a beautiful job. Being
in the dental business, I asked what was new since it had been five months since
I had seen her and I’m supposed to go every three!! She showed me the new
screens above my head and the software and then the Florida Probe. Having had my
bout with scaling and root planning about fifteen years ago, I am a very
committed to keeping that disease under control. Anyway - I couldn’t wait till I
got my scores. Only two 4’s and a couple of bleeding points. Overall I was
thrilled and I have this pretty picture to put in my bathroom to remind me where
to really use my Sonicare. (This sounds like product placement doesn’t it?)
Why do I share the details of my recent hygiene exam with you, you may be
asking. The reason is because with the Visual Display of my current perio
condition, I found myself validated and motivated!
Most of us are visual learners. There are some auditory learners, kinesthetic
learners as well but most people are visual. I have an old saying that goes “Whatever
you can see, you can move. What you can move, you can manage.” I’m
sure the Florida Probe people know that one, as did the Victor people etc. It’s
one we need to remember as we set our sites high for this year.
Walter Hailey quoted and lived by this phrase from Napolean Hill -
“Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, expectantly act toward, with
God’s help, must certainly be accomplished”. So take a minute and
Vividly Imagine what you really want for this year. Find photo’s of it
and put them up somewhere where you can see them. What you are
looking for is looking for you.

Chart Audits- "CPR" Paula Harriss, Faculty/Coach

Getting Ready
Sort the charts by people who have been in the office in the last 18 months
and people who have not been seen in the office for the same period. Assign
letters of the alphabet to team members.
Go though each letter and differentiate between patients who have a positive
history with the practice and just haven’t been in and those who had broken
appointments or very little history. File the charts to inactivate in the
designated place.
Contact the charts selected using the script below. If phone numbers have
changed - research the phone number – through directory assistance. If no phone
number, inactivate the chart.

Reactivation
of Patients after New Doctor Purchases a Practice
By Ranelle Rubin, Coach The Coaching Center, LLC
Purpose: To reach patients who may not have met the new
Doctor who purchased the practice and “invite” them to get back on track with
preventive care.
Idea: Offer these patients whatever new patient incentive
you currently have going (if any) such as complimentary exam, xrays, or
whitening. After all, they are really a new patient!
If you have paper charts:
First: Separate the charts into two sections. The top section will be
patients who have an appointment in the future either in recall or with the
Doctor. This may require you to purchase a second set of alphabetical dividers.
The easiest way to do this is to have one person at the wall of charts, and one
on the computer or in the appointment book.

Team
Meeting: Retaining our Existing Patients How We Make Our
Patients Feel Cindy Burstadt, Asst. Director, Practice Enhancement
We have all read articles on the WOW experience for our dental patients
haven’t we?
Many of you are working daily at providing that for your patients. Personally
written thank you notes, headsets for music or movies, and refreshments to name
just a few. You and your practice are special with all of these great amenities,
don’t you think?
But are these things all that there is to your patients’ experience
in the office? Are you looking at all aspects of your business and the impact
they have on your patients? Is it enough to have a great brochure that is mailed
when patients call for their first appointment? Is it enough to have gorgeous
crowns where there were ugly old fillings?
